International: Human Rights

The global human rights system is under strain—from Israel’s genocide in Occupied Palestine Territory to repression in China, Myanmar and Afghanistan, and growing threats to digital rights. With the climate crisis looming in the Pacific, Australia must step up to defend human rights globally. (Write your ideas for this campaign below. Please keep in mind Amnesty International Australia's values and behaviours charter when commenting. Offensive posts will be removed.)

Points

A great tactic could be a bold, visual digital action—like a live, interactive map showing human rights abuses around the world alongside Australia's potential influence points (trade, diplomacy, aid). Invite supporters to "light up" areas by taking targeted actions—signing petitions, emailing MPs, or sharing stories. What would inspire me to get involved? Feeling like my action matters. Show me how my voice connects to change—real stories, tangible impact, and a sense of community doing it together.

Creating connections between activists all over the world and working together to exert global pressure on governments around the world - showing how united and strong we are! Sharing stories from around the world, connecting us with people on the ground with things that are happening in real time so that we can advocate on their behalf (with their consent)

This campaign is urgent because human rights are under attack globally—from Gaza to Myanmar—and silence enables abuse. Australia must step up and take a principled stand, using its voice to demand justice and protect the rights of all, especially in our region.

Human rights worldwide is rapidly deteriorating. I would like to see worldwide governments helping out people more in regards to these issues and communities banding together to help out.

Talking to politicians about these issues. I would love to get involved in this campaign.
